ABOUT

At Diamond Youth Development, we strive to provide minority girls ages 9-14 with the knowledge and confidence to pursue their goals and dreams. Our mission is to guide and empower these young women to become the leaders of tomorrow. Our program offers a unique blend of self-awareness, leadership development, cultural exploration and confidence building. We give girls the tools they need to succeed in life and to make a positive impact on their communities.

Our Mission

Diamond Youth Development was founded with a mission to empower, inspire and enrich the lives of minority girls ages 9-14, in Murfreesboro, TN.   We deliver on that mission by offering quality leadership programs that reinforce the 4 Cs of our curriculum which include Character, Culture, Confidence and Community.

Our Vision

 Our vision is to create an environment that is conducive to growth, learning, collaboration, and exploration. Through our leadership programs and activities, we promote self-worth, self-confidence, and a greater sense of purpose. Our goal is to inspire young women to reach their highest potential and make a positive difference in their communities.

4 Cs of our Curriculum
Character
  • Opportunity to explore personal attributes: Self-discovery, identifying their unique qualities and strengths.

  • Communication: Focusing on effective communication skills, girls learn to express themselves confidently and assertively.

  • Hygiene: We emphasize the importance of personal hygiene and self-care.

  • Self-Actualization: Girls are encouraged to set personal goals and work towards realizing their full potential.

Culture
  • Opportunity to explore cultural influences: Participants explore how culture shapes their identities.

  • Black History Month: We celebrate the rich history and contributions of African Americans.

  • Heart Health: Promoting physical well-being, girls learn about heart health and healthy lifestyles.

  • Esteem and Race: Discussions on self-esteem and about race and identity are central to this phase.

Confidence
  • Opportunity to explore National Confidence Day: We mark this day with activities that boost self-assurance.

  • Beauty: Focusing on inner beauty and self-acceptance, we discuss diverse notions of beauty.

  • Fitness: Girls engage in physical activities to promote physical fitness and a healthy body image.

  • Career Exploration and Leadership: Participants explore career possibilities and develop leadership skills.

Community
  • Opportunity to explore friendships: Emphasizing the value of healthy friendships and positive social interactions.

  • Community Give Back Project: Participants engage in a community service project to give back, foster connections, and make a positive impact.

  • Spring Showcase: A culmination of their learning journey, girls showcase their skills and talents to the community, strengthening their sense of connection. 

Together, the 4 Cs - Character, Culture, Confidence, and Community - form the core of our curriculum, empowering girls of color to become well-rounded, compassionate, and capable individuals who are prepared to lead and make a meaningful difference in their lives and the world around them.
